A hat trick by Oni Krueckeberg gave Bellmont another victory in the conference in girls’ soccer, continuing a win streak that has now reached 20 games with a 6-0 victory over Huntington North in Decatur.

Krueckeberg entered the contest having scored in each of the Braves’ last three games. The sophomore now has a team-high seven goals this season for Bellmont. The Braves are 4-5 and ranked #7 in 2A, with losses to 3A #4 Homestead, 3A #9 Carroll (FW), 2A #1 Mishawaka Marian, 2A #2 Bishop Dwenger and South Bend Adams.

On a larger scale, the program is now 55-5 in the NE8 over the last eight seasons.

Last year’s first-team all-NE8 goalie, Emily Barton, continued to hold conference opponents without a goal, recording yet another NE8 clean sheet. The senior made all four saves and continued her amazing run, which has seen her play in goal 15 times against conference opponent while allowing just a single goal in that time.

Also scoring for the Braves were Kaitlyn Barton (her fifth of the season), Lilly Alberding and Adi Knipstein.

On Thursday the Braves’ gauntlet of tough opponents will continue as they host a very good Northrop team with just one loss. They’ll also travel to Canterbury Saturday to take on a depleted Cavaliers team before facing their nemesis in recent years, the Leo Lions, next week.

WZBD’s next broadcast of the Bellmont girls will be next week on Wednesday when they host FW Snider.
