It’s no surprise to hear that the Bellmont Braves drew a lot of attention Thursday night when they played at Luers. The Bellmont program is known throughout the area as one of the best around and head coach Craig Krull noted that he appreciated the fun that some Luers students and athletes dished out during the Braves’ straight set victory in Fort Wayne.
The Braves had little trouble with the Knights, winning easily in straight sets as MaryKate Scheumann did much of the work, tallying 20 kills in the three short sets.
“Luers brought a lot of energy and we had to battle through them and our own mistakes,” said Krull. “We were able to fight our way out of our slow start and gain momentum throughout the match.”

“Our Freshman and JV players never backed down ad they were chanting right back at them. It was good honest fun and brought a smile to my face listening to the back and forth.”
The Braves travel to Yorktown Saturday to take on Avon and the hosts in two competitive matches to see what this 2025 team is made of.
