The Bellmont Braves may have won the team sectional title, but the Adams Central Jets are still playing tennis themselves, as the No. 1 doubles duo of Alexa Brotherton and Macy McClure won a close match at Bluffton Wednesday over their Norwell opponents.

Emmaline Johnson and Gabrielle Hoeppner stayed alived as a duo despite the Knights falling to Bellmont last week. They beat the Braves’ top pair of Lilyana Suarez and Ella Ross in straight sets, while Brotherton and McClure were victorious in the Jets’ loss to Bluffton on the same night.

Brotherton and McClure captured the first set, 6-4, and then advanced to the regional with a 7-5 win in the second set.

The individual tournament, which encompasses both the singles and doubles tournaments of those not eliminated via the team tournament, will continue for the AC pair on June 7th at North Central High School.

Brotherton and McClure will face the winner of the Harrison (WL) sectional in the second semifinal, with the winner advancing to take on winners from Carroll (FW) and Noblesville.
