Leo was late to arrive to Tuesday’s NE8 track meet at Bellmont, but they dominated the track events and Grace Busch took both the throwing events to give the Lions a 60-point victory over the young Braves.
For the Braves, Ava Billman had the highlight, winning the high jump and the long jump.

Note: Officials from Bellmont noted that because of a lack of workers and volunteers, only the top three times were clocked in most of the track events. For this reason, results may not seem as full as WZBD’s normal track and field reports. If you are able to help, please consider contacting the Bellmont athletic department to assist in future meets.
Notes & Times:
-Lanie French attempted the 100 for the first time this year and made her way onto the season leaderboard for the Braves with a time of 13.9. Only the Braves’ long-time sprint specialist, Khia Cannon, has gone faster than that this season.
-Kaitlyn Barton already owned the Braves’ only sub-six time in the 1600 in the last three seasons, but she did even better Tuesday, shaving nine seconds from her time last week against Norwell, finishing second by just 1.7 seconds with a 5:42.80.

-Senior Tia Coyne came within a half second of her PR, running her best time of the season in the 300 hurdles to take second place for the Braves in 54.80.
-Bellmont’s 4×400 relay team clocked a new season best in the 4×400, but had to settle for second to Leo by 1.7 seconds. The team of Ashley Bleke, Khia Cannon, Adi Knipstein and Quinn Buchan finished in 4:23.20.

-Sophomore Ava Billman added a full foot to her season best in the long jump, winning first place. She also won the high jump.
-Freshman Braelyn Radecki added nine feet to her season best last week at Norwell to claim second-place points for the home Braves. With that throw, she surpassed everyone else in our Z-Land coverage area for season bests.
