The Decatur Police Department responded to a total of 11,441 service calls in 2024, according to an activity summary released by the department.
That is an average of 953 calls a month.
A total of 899 calls for service during the month of December were up slightly from the previous month, 885.
The calls for service include both emergency and non-emergency situations.

Among the calls are those for traffic stops, traffic-related criminal offenses, vehicle accidents, and a variety of other traffic-related concerns.
Also included are property crimes, crimes against a person(s), and long-term investigations.
Non-criminal issues include VIN (vehicle identification number) checks, civil disputes, animal complaints, vehicle unlocks, & neighbor complaints.
“We appreciate the continued support from our community, and we are here to respond to your needs,” the department said in releasing the report. “Every call is important and our team is dedicated to ensuring a prompt and effective response.”
