“I was stuck in the middle of a railroad track…” Bobby Lee Stamper screamed, a full Madison St. Plaza erupted, and what followed Thursday night was two hours of pounding, hard rockin’ music brought forth by Thunderstruck, an AC/DC tribute band.
Making its third consecutive performance on the Decatur stage, Thunderstruck delighted a large crowd with AC/DC music as hot as the weather.

Stamper, portraying the late Bon Scott and Brian Johnson – even down to the newsboy cap and the thrusting arms – belted out “Hell’s Bells”, “Thunderstruck”, “Whole Lotta Rosie”, and many more of the original band’s numerous top hits.
Dancers hit the plaza stage with the first song, a highly unusual occurrence at the Chamber-sponsored Thursday-nigh concerts. AC/DC shirts were numerous in the crowd.
Also adding vocals and stage antics was Kyle LaPato, in the role of Angus Young, dressed in the schoolboy uniform made famous by Young. And, as he has done here in the past, LaPato stripped down to his American-flag shorts – drawing wild cheers from the big crowd.

Kevin Feller on rhythm guitar, Corey Baetz on drums, and Chris Jones on bass round out the five-man band.
Their music pounded for two hours, with only a brief interruption given to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Craig Coshow to read the winner of the 50/50 raffle.
A major threat of rain in the hours leading up to the concert failed to materialize, with the exception of a brief, light shower which caused no one to leave the plaza.
MORGAN MANIA: Paul Morgan, a 17-year-old Bellmont High School junior, stirred the crowd ahead of Thunderstruck.

Morgan performed two numbers, winding up with a raucous rendition of Cab Calloway’s “Minnie the Moocher” – as mom Annie and grandma Diane Meyer looked on ( dad Leon may have been on hand, too).

When he was done, Morgan stuck around, spending much of his time rockin’ with the other dancers to the AC/DC music!
