Brooks Construction Co. of Fort Wayne is expected to begin Decatur’s latest street repaving program in mid-June, city Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told city council at its latest meeting.
It will be the latest street work effort provided in large part by a state Community Crossings grant.
The list of streets to be redone will be released soon, according to Gilbert.
Brooks won the project with a low bid of $886,747.

The Community Crossings grant amounts to $810,508.10. The city is providing a match of some $253,300, boosting total funds available for the work to over $1 million: $1,013,135.12.
Brooks milled (removed top layer) and repaved stretches of 11 city streets last summer via another CC grant and city match, plus two other streets and six alleys done through additional city funding.
Decatur is currently putting together a street and sidewalk improvement plan to apply for $1.5 million through this year’s Community Crossings program.
