Unseasonably warm temperatures and loads of sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday brought out the pooches and their people to Decatur’s new dog park, Paws & Play.
Located at the former site of the Evergreen Assisted Living facility – roughly across Mercer Ave. from Adams Memorial Hospital – the park has two separate fenced-in sides.
To use the facility, owners must register their dogs and pay an annual fee of $30 per household at Riverside Center, 231 E. Monroe St.
Proof that the dog has been vaccinated is required and there is a limit of three dogs per family.
The facility is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Rules for the dog park are posted at the site. “And there are bags there so please use them,” the mayor asked the public in announcing the facility.
