After ascending to the top spot in the 1A team poll, the Adams Central Flying Jets made a big statement in a close loss to Bellmont last week, and they gained more traction in their bid for a number one seed at team state when Rochester dropped a dual before Christmas against West Central.

The Jets are competing in the two-day Willey Duals at Lafayette Jefferson Thursday and Friday. Follow wzbd.com for updates both days.

In round one against West Lafayette, the Jets started off their quest for a 10-0 run with a 79-0 win.

The Jets quickly moved to 2-0 with a win over Tri-West 70-9, and they will face a tougher match against Rossville, a team with a couple of really solid individuals that will test Coach Currieās team.

The Jets are off to a great start in the third round against Rossville with six pins in six bouts for a 36-0 lead.

Adams Central defeated Rossville in round three 57-20. Rossville’s top two wrestlers, Jacob (150) and Noah (190) Weaver each scored wins in the loss. Noah Weaver pinned Trevor Currie for his first loss of the season.

The Jets faced a rematch against Maconaquah in the fourth round. Adams Central had already defeated the Braves at New Haven two weeks ago, but they came away with another convincing win against the 2A Team State team, 50-22.

Trevor Currie did not get his rematch against Austin Ringeisen, a wrestler he defeated by a point at New Haven, but instead took a forfeit at 215 as Keegan Bluhm remained out of the lineup for the Jets.

Adams Central finished the first day with a match against North Newton after a big win against Maconaquah.

Adams Central finished with a shutout to close out the day, beating North Newton 81-0.
