Norwell won comfortably in home waters over the Columbia City Eagles Tuesday night in the first co-ed meet of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes & Times: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The medley relay team for Norwell put forth a great effort to beat out Columbia City by just over a second thanks to a big final 50 by Emerson Meredith, who swam a split of 26.99. It was the team’s best time of the season so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ella Krug took second behind Columbia City’s talented Erin DeVito in the IM, swimming a season-best time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Jillian Melcher made a big splash in the 50, winning by more than two seconds and recording a season-best time in Z Land of 25.73. Melcher’s time in last year’s sectional finals was 25.39, a mark she is likely to shatter as the season goes on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Emerson Meredith set a new season mark in the 1M diving by winning with a total of 180 points. Teammate Jacquelyn Meyer was second with her season best, as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ryleigh Huffman set a season best and finished third in the butterfly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Emerson Meredith swam the 100 Free for the first time this season and posted the fastest time in Z Land so far, winning in 1:00.15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Cassie Coyne became the first female in Z Land this season to break six minutes in the 500, winning in 5:57.47. That time was just three seconds slower than her season-best time last year. Coyne remains one of the favorites this year to advance to the State Finals in the 500. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The Knights also won the 200 Free Relay, swimming a season best and winning by .68 over Columbia City’s top team of sprinters. On the team were Renee Fraze, Addyson Heyerly, Ella Krug and Cassie Coyne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Rilynn Ervin swam a season-best time in the backstroke to take third for Norwell. Teammate Alaina Barnhart did the same for fourth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Haleigh Reinhard and Olivia Daniel each swam season bests to finish second and third behind Columbia City’s Emma Johnson, who won the breaststroke in 1:15.25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Norwell completed the sweep of the relays with a win in the 400, with teammates Cassie Coyne, Renee Fraze, Addyson Heyerly and Emerson Meredith swimming a 4:14.56. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
