{"id":9578,"date":"2023-11-15T12:20:35","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T17:20:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=9578"},"modified":"2023-11-18T15:20:11","modified_gmt":"2023-11-18T20:20:11","slug":"city-signs-indot-pact-for-5-points-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/15\/city-signs-indot-pact-for-5-points-project\/","title":{"rendered":"City signs INDOT pact for 5 points project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Five Points Improvement Project in Decatur has been pushed back to at least early 2025 by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), paperwork continues to move forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At its latest meeting, city council approved the signing of a construction project with INDOT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contract is required by INDOT, which has total control over the project, including control of the federal dollars being used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will move us forward,\u201d City Attorney Anne Razo said at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will be the last step \u2026 well, one of the last steps,\u201d added a smiling Jeremy Gilbert, the city&#8217;s operations manager, after reconsidering his initial statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.madisoncabinets.com\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"76\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=640%2C76&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=1024%2C121&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=300%2C35&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=768%2C91&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=1536%2C181&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?w=1938&amp;ssl=1 1938w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Madison-web-ad.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilbert said in early September that many INDOT projects that had gone out for bid had ranged up to 40% higher than estimated due to inflation and the large number of projects underway at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Five Points project is 80% federal and 20% city funded,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo with all this being said, our bid date has been pushed out a couple times over the last couple years due to funding,\u201d Gilbert explained. \u201cSo right now we are scheduled to go to bid in June of 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is pegged to cost a total of $3,057.690.
