Mackey Arena was rocking Monday night as the #2 Purdue Boilermakers took on the Xavier Musketeers in the Gavitt Tipoff Games and the home team kept a steady pace to win 83-71. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zach Edey’s 28 points led all scorers as the big man was 10 of 11 from the free throw line and finished with a game-high 11 rebounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boilers fed off of Edey’s presence down low and had a big night behind the line, knocking down 7 of 15 threes. The team overall was 18 of 21 at the free throw line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heard live on WZBD, the team moved to 3-0 on the season with the win, committing just 11 turnovers. Coach Matt Painter discussed the turnover problem after the Morehead State game and made it a priority to take care of the basketball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
