Rodolfo \u201cRudy\u201d Luz Nu\u00f1ez, 49, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 in Elkhart County, Indiana, from a work-related accident. Rudy was born on December 1, 1973 in Winchester, Indiana to Jose and Yolanda M. (Esparza) Nu\u00f1ez. On May 31, 2003, Rudy married Joanne Tonner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rudy attended St. Mark\u2019s Church Decatur. He was a graduate of Bellmont High School. He worked for Miles Stone Construction as a heavy machine operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rudy loved his wife, kids, and grandkids so much. He was a man that lived by the motto \u201cactions speak louder than words.\u201d He showed us all love every day. Anything from a simple text saying have a good day or just a heart. He did little things like making a me a pot of coffee in the morning and he does not even drink coffee. He loved doing projects together. Like right now we were working on the front porch together. He was so strong both physically and emotionally.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rudy is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joanne Nu\u00f1ez of Decatur; son, Landon Nu\u00f1ez; daughters, Lydia Nu\u00f1ez, Laina (Nu\u00f1ez) Frost, Elizabeth Nu\u00f1ez and Cheerikee Melton; grandchildren, Dmitri Nu\u00f1ez, Dean Nu\u00f1ez, Rowan Frost and 1 on the way; his parents, Jose and Yolanda Nu\u00f1ez; father-in-law, Arlan Tonner; mother-in-law, Susan (Sue) Tonner; brothers and sisters, Robert (Candy) Esparza, Jose (Helen) Nu\u00f1ez, Gilbert (Irene) Brito, Sarah (Shaun) Meyer, Kateline Nu\u00f1ez and Raul Nu\u00f1ez; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jake (Natalie) Tonner and Elica Oliver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ollie Joe Nu\u00f1ez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 3:00 \u2013 8:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Mark\u2019s Church Decatur. Pastor Samuel Padgett officiating. Calling will be 1 hour prior to service from 9:00-10:00 at the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
