It was a no-nonsense, take-care-of-business match in Saturday morning’s semifinal for the Bellmont Braves, who advanced to the sectional championship as expected with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-10 victory over Oak Hill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MaryKate Scheumann led the way for the defending champion Braves with nine kills, while Delaney Lawson had seven. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hailey Cole had a standout game, as usual, tallying 24 assists, but it was one of her 11 digs that had everyone talking. The senior setter attempted to save a hard-hit ball but ended up unknowingly digging it out with her heel. Despite not even being able to see the ball, Cole saved the point and after two more great digs by Jackie Sutter and Sami Christen, the Braves won the point and went on to win the final set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cole was outstanding with her jump serve again, scoring four aces, while Christen finished six points by herself from the service line. Christen, the Braves’ libero, finished with ten digs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaydance Lose led the team with three blocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday’s sectional championship game will be Bellmont against either Norwell or Maconaquah, with action set to begin at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
