With just one conference match remaining in the regular season, the Bellmont Braves are now 6-0 in the NE8, rated #1 in the state in 3A by the coaches’ association computer ratings and rolling after they defeated Huntington North 25-18, 25-16, 25-13 Tuesday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two squads and coaching staffs utilized their mutual respect to raise funds for Energized by Ebony, a local non-profit in Adams County. Bellmont coach Craig Krull noted that the Vikings were involved in last year’s match in Decatur when his team supported the charity and chose to reciprocate the effort in their home match with the Braves this fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaydance Lose and her fellow seniors will play their final regular season game Thursday at Columbia City. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Braves had big nights from their three big hitters, with Delaney Lawson and MK Scheumann leading the team with 14 kills and Jackie Sutter just behind them with 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sami Christen, fresh off her 1000th career dig this weekend over in Ohio, led the team in that category with 11. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alyssa Gumbel played all three sets for Bellmont and registered three service aces and two kills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hailey Cole had a whopping 39 assists to go with eight digs and five kills herself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont will finish off the regular season with a match at Columbia City Thursday, when they will attempt to finish the season 7-0 in the NE8 and 28-2 overall. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
