{"id":7555,"date":"2023-10-03T19:27:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T23:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=7555"},"modified":"2023-10-03T19:27:52","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T23:27:52","slug":"ellamae-haessig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/03\/ellamae-haessig\/","title":{"rendered":"Ellamae Haessig"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ellamae Haessig, 80, of Syracuse, Indiana passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at Waterford Crossing Healthcare.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/98.158.76.108\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Ellamae-Haessig.jpg?resize=200%2C200\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Ellamae-Haessig.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Ellamae-Haessig.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She was born on March 13, 1943 to the late Richard and Rhoda M. (Jones) Speakman. Ellamae&nbsp;was united in marriage to Roger G. Haessig on August 21, 1965, at Union Chapel United&nbsp;Methodist Church. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on April 7, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellamae was a long time member of Mt. Hope Church of Nazarene in Berne, Indiana, where she served the Lord as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, steward, and missionary president. &nbsp;She recently was a member of the North Webster Church of God, and was involved with the Ladies Bible Study there. &nbsp;She also conducted a Bible study at the nursing home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellamae was a 1961 graduate of Pleasant Mills High School. &nbsp;She continued her education by receiving a Bachelor degree in 1965 from Asbury College, and then a Master of Science degree from St. Francis College in 1969. &nbsp;She was a Special Education Teacher for 27 years. &nbsp;She was employed by North Judson Schools and Parkway Schools, and then went to Adams Wells Special Services Co-op (AWSS), where she worked for 22 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellamae loved the Lord Jesus Christ and had a desire for others to come to Jesus for salvation, just like she did. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is survived by two sons, David M. (Kim) Haessig of Milford, Indiana, and Daryl L. (Susan) Haessig of Syracuse, Indiana; daughter, Karen (Sunu) Thomas of South Bend, Indiana;&nbsp;brother, David (Carmi) Speakman of Syracuse, Indiana; sister, Mary Sutherland of Willmore, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Joyce Speakman of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Judy Speakman of Warren, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Lanae (Asher), Logan, Trevor, Brianna, Valerie, Samuel, Leena, Hannah, and Silas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was preceded in death by six brothers, Thomas (Jennie) Speakman, Rev. Harry (Esther Jean) Speakman, John H. Speakman, Rev. Lee (Lavonne) Speakman, Robert \u201cBob\u201d Speakman, and Paul (Em) Speakman; sister, Arlyene (Ron) Kelsey; brother-in-law, Robert Sutherland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, at Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene, Berne with Pastor David Cox and Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating, Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Berne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Family and Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in Berne, Indiana and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In lieu of flowers, Ellamae\u2019s family would ask that memorials be directed to Mt.
