Randall \u201cRandy\u201d Girod, 64, of Syracuse, IN passed away unexpectedly while vacationing in Grand Rapids, MI on 9\/22\/23. He was born in Decatur, IN on 2\/17\/59 to Jane (Maddox) and Dwight Girod. He grew up in Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1977. Randy graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1981 with a B.S. in Accounting from the Business School. He was a member of Delta Chi fraternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy graduated from Indiana University School of Law in 1984. He was a congressional intern for both John Myers and Dan Quayle. He clerked for the Indiana Supreme Court. He worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney and then a prosecuting attorney in Kosciusko County in the 1990s. He was active in the Republican Party of Kosciusko County and served as the GOP chairman from 2009-2016. He was inducted into the Republican Hall of Fame in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy served for many years on the Kosciusko County Election Board, and he served on the Syracuse Public Library Board for 16 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is survived by his sister, Susan Girod, of Stevens Point, WI; brother-in-law, Jerold Harter, of Stevens Point, WI; and niece, Claire Girod, of Minneapolis, MN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister (Lisa). He was a devoted son and brother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will be buried at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, IN on September 27, 2023 at 9:30 AM. There will not be a funeral service but family will be at the burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
