{"id":6987,"date":"2023-09-23T10:11:42","date_gmt":"2023-09-23T14:11:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=6987"},"modified":"2023-09-23T10:11:47","modified_gmt":"2023-09-23T14:11:47","slug":"full-u-s-harvest-picture-not-clear-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/09\/23\/full-u-s-harvest-picture-not-clear-yet\/","title":{"rendered":"Full U.S. harvest picture not clear, yet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Carah Hart<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Brownfield Ag Network<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A market analyst says early harvest results for U.S. corn and soybeans aren\u2019t great and the grain markets could respond higher if results worsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arlan Suderman with StoneX Group says he is expecting a clearer picture on the U.S. crop in October and will continue to track crop conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy yield models that are unofficial estimates are at 171 bushels\/acre for corn and 50 bushels\/acre for soybeans,\u201d he says. \u201cIf you take that corn estimate and use USDA\u2019s demand estimates, that would leave ending stocks almost 400 million bushels above year-ago levels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suderman says he\u2019s not too excited about the corn market reacting higher to that news unless yields drop well below 170 bushels\/acre, but soybeans have a tighter balance sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf we start dropping below that 50 bushel level for soybeans, I think we start seeing ending stocks closer to 200 million bushels and USDA\u2019s already lowered its demand estimates for soybeans. Then, I think the market responds a bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suderman says all eyes are on USDA\u2019s next yield projections, with an expectation the agency will lower yields for the third consecutive month.
