Schueler, 89, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, at his daughter\u2019s residence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born on August 9, 1934, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Gustav and Mathilda (Fackler) Schueler. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/98.158.76.108\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Kenneth-Schueler.jpg?resize=200%2C200\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6874\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Kenneth-Schueler.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Kenneth-Schueler.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenneth was united in marriage to Marlene (Poeppel) Schueler on September 1, 1957. &nbsp;She preceded Kenneth in death on December 30, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenneth was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the United States Army as a Sp3(T) Combat Engineer before being honorably discharged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where over the years he served in various offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenneth, along with his wife, was the owner and operator of Preble Feed and Grain. &nbsp;He was also a long time bus driver for North Adams Community Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ken and Marlene loved to travel with their family and friends to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. &nbsp;It was at their lake cottage that they enjoyed fishing, card games, and entertaining. &nbsp;Lots of storytelling took place there, which is fondly recalled by everyone. &nbsp;He loved his pets\u2026and these companions provided him with great satisfaction. &nbsp;He also was very proud of his garden and maintained one as long as he was able.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by his daughter, Connie (Lynn) Garner of Ossian, Indiana; son, Jeff (Julie) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Nathan Garner, Samantha (Jeff) Stout, Jamie (fiance Kyle Hemsoth) Schueler, and Kevin Schueler; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Stout; two step great-grandchildren, Madison and Lillian Stout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Halden and Paul Schueler, and three sisters, Lorien Cress, Mardella \u201cMardy\u201d Reinhart, and Ruth Schamerloh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A funeral service for Ken will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Pastor Andrew Yeager officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friends and family will be received from 12 Noon \u2013 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the Zwick &amp; Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrangements are by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Homes of Decatur, Indiana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kenneth L.
