Emma Schwartz claimed medalist honors as the Bluffton Tigers completed the season sweep of conference honors by winning the ACAC Golf Tournament Saturday by 37 strokes at Celina Lynx. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwartz turned in an outstanding Back Nine of 43 to pull away from South Adams’ Addy Hinton after both girls turned in 48s on the Front Nine. Bluffton teammate Tressa Renner led at the turn with a 44, but struggled on the back and finished in fourth place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of the expected victory by the Tigers, it was an extremely close team race between the rest of the teams who entered full lineups (Jay County had just three participants).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Starfires used Hinton’s runner-up finish to take runner-up team honors, capping off an incredible day for the team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I wasn’t surprised about Addy’s round, she has been working really hard the past two weeks,” said head coach Chris Toledo. “Asking for help and acknowledging what she needed to work on were two key factors.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coach felt that his team deserved a second-place finish and, on a better day, could have challenged for the conference title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The team score was honestly a bit high. I\u00a0wasn’t happy with it but understood why they were high.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penalty strokes from the heather\u00a0and the water added to a team-high 23 double pars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even if we would have shot our normal scores, it would have been hard to beat Bluffton.\u00a0They played well.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
