“A great night for us!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So exclaimed Bellmont head golf coach Mike Macke Tuesday night as his team put five girls in the 40s for the first time this season on the Back Nine at Cross Creek. The Braves shot 190 to beat New Haven in NE8 play by 33 strokes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medalist honors belonged to Krosbi Butler this time, with all five players on the team within four strokes of Butler’s leading 46. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The senior made birdie on the tenth hole and took advantage, penciling in her best score ever for a nine-hole round. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abigail Blythe had just two holes worse than bogey and finished second on the team with a 47.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Abigail has struggled lately,” admitted Macke, “but she really turned it around tonight with her season low.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont No. 1 Meghan Pettibone and No. 2 Ella Hockemeyer both played well, said Macke, but did not shoot their best rounds of the year. That leaves the veteran coach believing that the team can keep dropping, hopefully closing in on 180 soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a whole, the girls have all been working on getting better and their hard work is showing,” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves will get another crack at their home course Thursday when they host the DeKalb Barons, a team Macke calls “the best team in our conference.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will see if we can maintain that level of play or maybe even better our play.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
