The grandson of a Geneva woman was killed in an Amish buggy vehicle collision which occurred on Thursday evening in Jay County.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dead is Harley Jacob Schwartz, 22, of rural Portland, the grandson of Katie Hilty of Geneva.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accident occurred on State Road 18 near Bryant when the buggy operated by Harley Schwartz was struck in the rear by a car operated by Deborah Houser of Peru, Indiana. Harley Schwartz was ejected upon impact and suffered a severe head injury.\u00a0He was flown by the Lutheran Air Helicopter out of the Portland Municipal Airport to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he succumbed from his injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The operator of the car, Deborah Houser was not injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harley Schwartz resided in rural Portland.\u00a0Besides his grandmother he is survived by his parents Chris and Mary Susan Schwartz of Portland with whom he lived, two brothers including Wyman Schwartz and Duane Schwartz, two sisters including Veronica Shetler of Portland, and a special friend Sarah Graber of Bryant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funeral services for Harley Jacob Schwartz, again the grandson of Katie Hilty of Geneva, were scheduled for Monday at the Schwartz residence.\u00a0The Williamson Spencer Penrod Funeral Home in Portland is in charge of the arrangements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
