Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Formula Field ball diamond (field No. 1 on the west end of the REV Sports Complex) will be lighted in mid-September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tentative date of September 12 is set for now, according to Decatur Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gilbert said it will take Musco Lighting of Dublin, Ohio, a few days to install the lights. Then Bleeke Electric \u2013 which has done other non-diamond lighting at the field \u2013 will begin wiring the lights into the concession building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gilbert announced at the July 18 meeting of city council that an anonymous donor is putting up $125,000 to fund the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decatur’s board of works and safety, meanwhile, approved funding some additional lighting. For approximately $14,000, an \u201cadder\u201d will be placed on one of the new poles, shine in another direction and light the field of an adjacent diamond, Gilbert explained to the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
