{"id":4943,"date":"2023-08-05T19:40:17","date_gmt":"2023-08-05T23:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=4943"},"modified":"2023-08-05T19:40:19","modified_gmt":"2023-08-05T23:40:19","slug":"york-and-band-delight-hometown-crowd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/05\/york-and-band-delight-hometown-crowd\/","title":{"rendered":"York and band delight hometown crowd"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aleena York can&#8217;t recall when she first began singing. \u201cI&#8217;ve been singing ever since I could talk,\u201d she said this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe&#8217;s been singing a lot; she loves it,\u201d said her grandfather, Dan York, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aleena and her band of three guys delighted a hometown crowd Thursday night on the Madison St. Plaza as part of the Decatur Chamber&#8217;s ongoing summer concert series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DDDMaintenanceandReapir\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"366\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/98.158.76.108\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DDD_Maintenance_BC_4-23_for_AD-1-1024x585.jpg?resize=640%2C366\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-814\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DDD_Maintenance_BC_4-23_for_AD-1.jpg?resize=1024%2C585&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DDD_Maintenance_BC_4-23_for_AD-1.jpg?resize=300%2C171&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DDD_Maintenance_BC_4-23_for_AD-1.jpg?resize=768%2C439&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DDD_Maintenance_BC_4-23_for_AD-1.jpg?w=1050&amp;ssl=1 1050w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She presented a diverse range of music, from Don Henley (Eagles) to Bonnie Raitt, from Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) to Alyanna Myles (\u201cBlack Velvet\u201d), from Steve Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) to Heart and the Beatles.<br>York said she has been singing professionally since she was 9, traveling with her family for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow I have a classic rock band (Aleena York and The Tall Boys) and I\u2019m part of several acoustic duets that play in and around Indiana for public and private events,\u201d said the 25-year-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s something of a regular at Club Soda in Fort Wayne and recently performed at the Crooked Lake Music Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>York spends her daytime working at Highway 27 Landscaping near Decatur, but music is definitely her thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dI give private voice lessons to people of all ages so I\u2019m constantly around music! There\u2019s nothing I\u2019d rather do,\u201d Aleena will tell you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daughter of Kelly and Taya York of Decatur, Aleena is A 2016 graduate of Bellmont High School and gradated in 2018 from the University of St. Francis&#8217; music technology program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The young woman is appreciative of the opportunity to entertain at home.
