{"id":4902,"date":"2023-08-04T07:05:46","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T11:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=4902"},"modified":"2023-08-04T07:05:48","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T11:05:48","slug":"fill-er-up-water-tower-has-a-new-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/04\/fill-er-up-water-tower-has-a-new-look\/","title":{"rendered":"Fill &#8216;er up: water tower has a new look"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur&#8217;s water tower on Line St. should be filled and back in business by the end of this week, Utilities Director Kevin Hackman told city council at its latest meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tower, with a capacity of 500,000 gallons of water, had been drained for a new paint job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LC United Painting of Sterling Heights, Michigan, handled the project at a cost of $248,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the same firm painted the east water tower, at Piqua Road and E. If funding is available, it could be redone next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also at the council meeting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Mayor Dan Rickord thanked the police department for its back-to-school clothing drive. \u201cThank Amy (McDonald Gage, the department&#8217;s chief clerk), she has a giant heart,\u201d Chief Kevin Gerber said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* After a public hearing, council approved an ordinance repealing and replacing the 2015 ordinance dealing with stormwater regulations.
