A win in the regular season final for the Bellmont Braves capped off a four-year unbeaten run in the NE8 for the class of 2027 and handed the team another NE8 trophy. The Braves beat East Noble at home Thursday, 2-0.

Finally able to play again on their home pitch, the Braves had to wait until the second half before they could enjoy a lead.

Oni Krueckeberg set up Madyson Snyder for the opening goal on 57′ to put the team within touching distance of the four-peat.

The Braves then sealed the deal in the 71st minute in an unexpected way. Usually one to shoot from distance or fire in the perfect cross, junior Kaitlyn Barton instead dribbled through the East Noble back line and scored on her own for the second and final goal of the game.

Coach Skaggs and Coach Lee’s program has now won 31 straight games in NE8 conference play. This year’s senior class has not lost a conference game since they were in seventh grade. Ironically, that loss came in a tournament game against Leo, and the Braves will put their season and Bellmont careers on the line in the sectional tournament Tuesday against those same Lions.

Fans of the Bellmont program can hear that sectional quarterfinal game live on WZBD Tuesday night.
