Time, however, is running short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of last week, the drive was $20,000 shy of its $50,000 goal, Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart told city council at its July 5 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.madisoncabinets.com\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"76\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/98.158.76.108\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad-1024x121.jpg?resize=640%2C76\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=1024%2C121&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=300%2C35&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=768%2C90&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?resize=1536%2C181&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?w=1936&amp;ssl=1 1936w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cropped-Madison-web-ad.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The $50,000 must be raised by August 5 in order to receive a $50,000 match from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA)&#8217;s CreatINg Places program (also known as Patronicity).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So $30,000 has been raised thus far, with a good-sized chunk of that coming from Mark and Connie Bulmahn, who recently donated $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kekionga Project has three facets: a) Completing a dog park already started at the former site of the Evergreen Assisted Living facility; b) to finally renovate the old ball diamond (see photo) in Kekionga Park, north of the dog park site; and c) stocking the pond beside the dog park \u2013 where people can been seen fishing nearly every day at this time of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The condition of the ball field in Kekionga Park has been in need of work for several years, since the adult men&#8217;s slo-pitch league lost their spot when the REV complex was initiated three or four years ago and moved to Kekionga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-ed softball also is held there.
