The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Adams County program invites you to Give Like Dolly on September 25, honoring Dolly Parton’s legacy by helping put the joy and lifelong benefits of books into the hands of local children. Your generosity can help inspire a love of reading and make a lasting difference in the lives of Adams County families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of Give Like Dolly Day are the Adams County Imagination Library and other local Imagination Library programs. Books for each registered child are funded fifty percent by local fund-raising efforts with the remaining costs supported by the State of Indiana. Currently, over 1,000 children between the ages of birth and five are registered in Adams County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dolly often called the local Imagination Library partners the “true heroes” of her program. The local partners raise funds, build community support, and work tirelessly to ensure children from birth to age five in their communities can receive a free, high-quality book mailed directly to their home each month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you would like to help carry forward Dolly’s mission of supporting life-long learning and reading, please consider donating to our local Adams County program to support our Adams County youth and their reading readiness. Any amount would help, however, $50 would support three Adams County children for a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Imagination Library<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each month, the Imagination Library mails over 3 million high-quality, age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes. Every enrolled child receives one book per month from birth to age five, at no cost to families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly created the Imagination Library in her hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, to inspire a love of reading from the earliest years. In true Dolly fashion, she soon shared that dream with other communities that wanted to give their children the same opportunity to Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dollywood Foundation empowers the local program partners to build awareness of the program, negotiates the costs of the books, and coordinates the mailing software for children to receive the books.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Imagination Library’s impact has been widely studied, with research consistently showing positive effects on early childhood development, kindergarten readiness, and family reading habits.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
