Monroe St. Extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city&#8217;s new assistant water superintendent, Seth Haines, brought both issues before the board at its latest meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haines said mice caused the damage at the Berne well house&#8217;s roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He presented quotes for repairs from Extreme Builders of Prairie Creek (IN) $13,770, and Arnold Lumber of Decatur, $11,200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haines pointed out that the Extreme quote provided removal and take-away of the existing materials while Arnold&#8217;s requires the city to handle removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Extreme bid was recommended by Haines, noting that the firm had worked with the city in the past. The board gave its okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peerless Midwest, out of Mishawaka, offered a quote of $32,400 at the east-side water plant. It will assist in the media restoration and final verification of the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"582\" height=\"601\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Seth-Haines-1.jpg?resize=582%2C601&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39605\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Seth-Haines-1.jpg?w=582&amp;ssl=1 582w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Seth-Haines-1.jpg?resize=291%2C300&amp;ssl=1 291w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome of the valves are not working right and we&#8217;ve lost anthracite\u201d because of it, Haine told the board.
