The Fourth of July celebration in Decatur is going to be much larger than a single-day event, with two extra days of entertainment surrounding the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it will all be free to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Memorial Hospital is a big contributor to the festivities, sponsoring an appearance by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic as well as being a major sponsor for the annual fireworks display and music on the Fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all begins Monday, the day before the Fourth, when the hospital celebrates its 100th year with the Philharmonic presenting its Patriotic Pops concert on the Madison St. Plaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some 55-65 musicians will provide all manner of patriotic music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philharmonic will begin at 7:30 p.m., but hospital officials are urging everyone to arrive as early as 6 to enjoy free root beer floats, hot dogs and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Fourth, everything will shift to the area behind and beside Riverside Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nighttrain, a Guns & Roses tribute band, will provide music starting at 6 p.m. Food will be available at Riverside Center from to 6 to 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting about 9, the American Legion Color Guard will honor fallen veterans with its annual ceremony. At dusk, around 10 p.m., the fireworks display will begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday will be a mostly quiet day, but the \u201caction\u201d will resume on Thursday, shifting back to the plaza with another tribute band, JUMP, playing the music of Van Halen from 7 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
