The Decatur Chamber of Commerce winds down its annual Summer Concert Series schedule Thursday with an absolute staple of the series: The Bulldogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual music fest is in its eighth year on the Madison St. Plaza and The Bulldogs have not missed any of the first seven, starting when it all began back in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this will be the 13th and final concert on this year’s schedule, Derek Jones & 50 South will be performing on Sept. 10 on the plaza, having been rescheduled following an earlier postponement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bulldogs, featuring music from the 1950s and 1960s, will play from 7-9 Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band’s history goes back over 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were known as Spike & the Bulldogs for years, then became simply The Bulldogs after Spike retired in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No admission is charged for the concerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food vendors will be available and adult beverages will be available from The Oasis Pub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CARS TOO: Thursday will bring a doubleheader of entertainment, with the Chamber’s annual Motorsports Festival to move into downtown in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hours are listed as 4-9 p.m. Registration is $10 for pre-registration and $12 day-of-event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antique cars, show cars, race cars, street rods and motorcycles are expected. Recent motorsports festivals have drawn up to 150 vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will be parked on Second St. downtown, from Monroe St. to Jefferson St. Two other streets, Madison and Court, will be used if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOSPITAL EVENT: Adams Memorial Hospital will hold its annual Senior Living Event on the plaza on Thursday, Sept. 3, featuring the Sweetwater All-Stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
