He&#8217;s labeled Zaden Baumer as QB1 and the junior will have to show that he has the tools to make coach Moser forget about his graduated quarterback like Reba wanted to forget about a lost love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SA-Coach-Grant-Moser-interview.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Coach Grant Moser discusses the Starfire season in 2026 with Rex Brewer. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year the program scheduled a perennial Ohio powerhouse in Week One and shook off a shutout loss to an elite team and moved on with the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aug192026.jpg?resize=640%2C233&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38363\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aug192026.jpg?resize=1024%2C373&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aug192026.jpg?resize=300%2C109&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aug192026.jpg?resize=768%2C280&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aug192026.jpg?w=1099&amp;ssl=1 1099w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, they&#8217;ll face a different task, but still a difficult one, when they travel to Butler to take on an Eastside Blazer team that played in last year&#8217;s 2A sectional final at Adams Central and put up 32 points on the Jets in a loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can hear the Starfires all season long on WZBD, 92.7 FM and on our YouTube channel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WZBD Football - South Adams at Eastside, 8\/21\/26\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wlHHUEn-bSE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baumer saw a bit of time last year, throwing 52 passes and completing 60% of them, tossing four touchdowns. He also ran for 186 yards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rushing game, though, will be about Will Patterson, who led the team with 689 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had five touchdown receptions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bowling Green commit Wes Summersett took 16 of his 80 catches to the house last season and he also scored eight on the ground, mostly in short-yardage situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SA-Wes-Summersett-interview.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Wes Summersett talks football with his biggest fan &#8211; Rex Brewer. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those two seniors will certainly provide Baumer with plenty of options to open up the passing game and with Jax Wanner also available in the passing game, there&#8217;s no doubt that the pieces are there for another spectacular offensive year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team will also receive a big boost when Diego Arriaga becomes eligible on the line after transferring from Bellmont last school year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SA-Diego-Arriaga-interview.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Diego Arriaga discusses what it means to be a Starfire. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hal Ringger and Easton O&#8217;Dell are both in a position to be pushing for all-conference honors on the Starfire defense along with Summersett. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SA-Easton-ODell-interview.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Easton O&#8217;Dell talks defense with Rex Brewer. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge of a road game at Eastside will be an odd contrast to the challenge in Week Two when they travel to Bellmont, a place where they&#8217;ll be expected to win. Coach Moser, however, has loads of respect for what coach Blaker is doing in Decatur and he knows that his Stars won&#8217;t be able to start thinking about the ACAC until they take care of business against the Braves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SA-Austin-Frank-interview.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Austin Frank discusses his role on this South Adams team. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, the rest of the schedule looks familiar. The team will play nearly the rest of the regular season on artificial turf and the Stars coaching staff hopes that the offense will be clicking by the time they make their home debut in September against an incredibly talented Bluffton team. Moser has lost three in a row against the Tigers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year&#8217;s run to the semi-state has convinced plenty of voters in the state polls that the Stars will be right there again in 2026. They&#8217;re ranked #3 in the pre-season coaches poll and even have a first-place vote.
