Hirschy, age 76, of Portland, IN, passed away at 2:58 PM on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Envive of Berne in Berne, IN. He was born on Friday, March 31, 1950, in Adams County, IN, to Eli and Ruth (Myers) Hirschy. He married Marge (Loshe) Hirschy on Saturday, March 25, 1972, in Decatur, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dewain was a graduate of Adams Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He attended Bryant Wesleyan Church. A lifelong Jay County farmer, Dewain enjoyed farming and buying and selling farm equipment with Mike Rinker. Farming was not only his livelihood but also his hobby. He enjoyed restoring tractors and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marge Hirschy, Portland, IN; son, Chad (Amanda) Hirschy, Bryant, IN; brother, Bill (Mary Ellen) Hirschy, Berne, IN; and grandchildren, Trey and J.D. Hirschy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dewain was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Ruth (Myers) Hirschy; and brothers, Dale Hirschy and Eldon Hirschy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family and friends may gather to share and remember Dewain at Downing &amp; Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, IN 46740, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A service to celebrate Dewain\u2019s life will be held at Downing &amp; Glancy Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026 with Pastor Paul VanCise officiating. Interment will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arrangements are being handled by Downing &amp; Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dewain L.
