Rumschlag, 70, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at his residence. Richard was born on September 25, 1955, in Decatur, Indiana to Richard A. and Bonnie L. (Suman) Rumschlag. On February 9, 1996, he married Patricia Walters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"355\" height=\"457\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6a63b1cdddfe3.jpg?resize=355%2C457&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37866\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6a63b1cdddfe3.jpg?w=355&amp;ssl=1 355w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6a63b1cdddfe3.jpg?resize=233%2C300&amp;ssl=1 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard, a loving father and proud grandpa, attended Decatur Church of God. He loved gardening, cooking, woodworking, reading and family. He was self-employed in construction and was a stay-at-home father. Richard served in the United States Marines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Rumschlag of Decatur, his mother, Bonnie Rumschlag of Decatur, 4 children, C.J. (Kris) Garwood of Monroe, Emily (Colby) Vanhorn of Decatur, Christopher (Amy) Rumschlag of Ft. Wayne and Josef Rumschlag of Decatur; 3 brothers, Scott Rumschlag, Kent Rumschlag, Brian Rumschlag all of Decatur; 2 sisters, Susan (Ed) Ulrey of Van Wert, OH and Debbie Tomlin of Omac, WA; 7 grandchildren, Jordan (Georgia) Patterson, Lilly Garwood, Ciara Garwood, Kati Garwood, Charlotte Vanhorn, Michael Rumschlag, Vincent Rumschlag and 1 on the way; and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Rumschlag, and a brother, Gary Rumschlag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitation will be from 3:00 \u2013 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Haggard-Hirschy &amp; Zelt Funeral Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the funeral home with 1 hour calling prior to service from 10:00 \u2013 11:00 a.m. Pastor Brent Doster officiating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memorials may be made to Friends of the Library or Decatur Church of God.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard D.
