{"id":3783,"date":"2023-06-26T14:29:44","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T18:29:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=3783"},"modified":"2023-06-26T14:29:46","modified_gmt":"2023-06-26T18:29:46","slug":"pavers-construction-workers-set-to-descend-on-city-of-decatur-for-large-scale-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/06\/26\/pavers-construction-workers-set-to-descend-on-city-of-decatur-for-large-scale-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Pavers, construction workers set to descend on city of Decatur for large-scale project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brooks Construction crews are expected to begin moving into Decatur around July 10 to begin work on a large-scale street resurfacing project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told city council at its recent meeting that Brooks&#8217; first steps would be on 52 handicapped ramps, then it will turn to the paving of 12 streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ramp work will likely go through the end of July, with paving to start around the first of August and requiring a couple of weeks or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has a total construction cost of $1,052,685.26, most of which is funded by the latest state Community Crossings grant acquired by the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur&#8217;s cost via a matching grant is $263,171.30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the city is putting forth $235,365 to pave six alley and two streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Total construction cost for this year&#8217;s resurfacing of 14 streets and six alleys amounts to $1,288,050.36, according to Gilbert, with Decatur&#8217;s tab totaling $498,536.34.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following are the streets to be paved through the CC grant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mercer Ave. from 5 Points to Adams Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N. 16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;St. from Monroe to Nuttman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Westlawn Dr. from Monroe to the dead-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stevenson St. from Elm to Mercer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S. Fifth St. from Adams to Patterson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N. Ninth St. from Nuttman to Dayton Ave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;St. from Monroe to Nuttman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John St. from Fifth to Third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fifth St. from Lopez Lane to Elm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;St. from Elm to dead-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monmouth Rd. from Second St. to Piqua Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locally funded projects follow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley behind 133 St. 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;St. from Madison to Jefferson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley behind 104 N. 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;St. from Madison to Monroe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley behind 512 Washington St. from Meibers to Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley behind 1003 Mix Ave. from Washington to Second St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley behind 911 Jefferson T. from Jefferson to Adams St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alley beside 221 S.
