{"id":37827,"date":"2026-07-22T12:33:40","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T16:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=37827"},"modified":"2026-07-22T12:33:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T16:33:41","slug":"recent-heat-accelerating-corn-and-soybean-growth-in-indiana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/22\/recent-heat-accelerating-corn-and-soybean-growth-in-indiana\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent heat accelerating corn and soybean growth in Indiana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ERIN ANDERSON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Brownfield Ag Network<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A west central Indiana farmer says recent warmer weather has helped accelerate crop development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tyler&nbsp;Everett tells Brownfield, \u201cWith the cold end of April and May we had, it\u2019s really helped the corn and soybeans really take off and start to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But, he tells Brownfield rainfall continues to impact fungicide timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt really spread out our corn planting,\u201d he says. \u201cWhen we go to make our fungicide passes here, we have to make sure that we are spraying accordingly when things need it and not putting it on too early or too late.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/07.20.26-Tyler-Everett.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the latest USDA crop progress and conditions report, Indiana corn is 53 percent silking, 4 percent in the dough stage, and rated 64 percent good to excellent. Soybeans are 55 percent blooming, 24 percent setting pods, and rated 63 percent good to excellent.
