{"id":37815,"date":"2026-07-21T14:39:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T18:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=37815"},"modified":"2026-07-21T14:40:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T18:40:00","slug":"grunge-music-coming-to-plaza-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/21\/grunge-music-coming-to-plaza-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"Grunge music coming to plaza stage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Decatur Chamber&#8217;s Summer Concert Series takes another huge diverse swing this week with its first-ever presentation of grunge music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first seven weeks of the annual concert series has featured hard rock, pop rock and country music, but this week will bring on something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"361\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?resize=640%2C361&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?resize=1024%2C577&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?resize=768%2C433&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?resize=1536%2C866&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?w=1586&amp;ssl=1 1586w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Grunge-band.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grunge, the Sounds of Seattle, is a five-man tribute band that will be performing from 7 to 9:15 on the Madison St. Plaza stage Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band says it plays tribute to some of the most influential bands of the &#8217;80s and &#8217;90s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blending heavy punk and heavy metal genres, the concert will feature the music of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and other legendary Seattle bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a>Here&#8217;s what Wikipedia says about grunge music: \u201cGrunge (originally known as the Seattle Sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s in the U.S. state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and Olympia, and other nearby cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a><a><\/a>\u201cGrunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, and features the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, as well as bass guitar, drums, and vocals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As usual, no admission will be charged Thursday.
