class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A trio of Adams County students and nine from Wells County are among 310 statewide recipients of Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each will receive competitive $40,000 teaching scholarships, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education announced this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bellmont students Brianna Converset and Gracie York are among the recipients, along with Adams Central&#8217;s Taylor Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Five Norwell students \u2013 Kale Fuess, Elijah Jacob, Emmaline Johnson, Emerson Meredith and Cristin Springer \u2013 were selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"518\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also chosen were Baylee Green and Sebstien Schoeff of Bluffton High School, Caroline Ripperger and Emily Steffen of Southern Wells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addison Werts of Heritage High School also was named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those chosen will receive up to $10,000 annually toward college for four years, according to a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recipients must teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While in college\/university, they must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 30 credit hours per year to renew the scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship program is in its 10th year, administered by the commission for higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to qualify, students had to meet at least one of the three academic requirements, which were based on high school graduation rankings, cumulative GPA and college-entrance exam scores, the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly 1,000 students, most of them seniors, from 323 high schools in 90 of Indiana&#8217;s 92 counties applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some 30% of applicants are college students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By BOB
