There will be a hot time \u2013 literally! \u2013 in Decatur on Thursday as the city celebrates the Fourth of July and America’s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Decatur Chamber’s usual Thursday-night concert scene will shift to Riverside Center’s parking lot and Riverside Park for music, veterans recognition and fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proud Mary CCR will perform from 6 to 9:30 p.m., the band’s first appearance in the Chamber concert series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 9:30, local resident Jaleena Hill will sing the National Anthem, then the American Legion Color Guard will honor active and fallen veterans with a ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At around 10, Pyrotecnico Fireworks Inc. will begin setting off the \u201cboomers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food and beverages will be available and adult beverages will be on sale in The Oasis Pub’s beer tent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be no admission charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROUD: Proud Mary CCR is a five-man band out of Bryan, Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guys bring the music of Credence Clear Revival’s greatest hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom ‘Proud Mary’ to ‘Fortunate Son’ and all the chart-topping hits and B-sides in between, PROUD MARY expertly recreates the iconic sound and vibe that made Creedence Clearwater Revival so legendary,\u201d the band says on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Band members are Billy Staniski on guitar, Stu Throne on guitar and harmonica, Jeff Dhaenens on bass, Rick Vogelsong on drums, and Scott Dean as lead vocalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FOURTH FIREWORKS: A fireworks show is planned for Saturday, the Fourth, in Decatur, sponsored by West End restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be held at the Knights of Columbus pavilion, starting at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An announcement said it will be held \u201cin celebration of America\u2019s 250th and West End\u2019s 140th!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A food truck will be open from 6:30 until supplies are exhausted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenderloins, cheeseburgers, fries, lemon shakeups, funnel cake fries and bottled water will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rest rooms inside the K of C will be open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
