Szajko, 66, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at her son&#8217;s residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was born on November 13, 1959, in Cook County, Illinois, to the late Robinson C. and Betty (Horvath) Kane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marguerite was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/lg-84.jpg?resize=640%2C799&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37553\" style=\"width:210px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/lg-84.jpg?w=820&amp;ssl=1 820w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/lg-84.jpg?resize=240%2C300&amp;ssl=1 240w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/lg-84.jpg?resize=768%2C959&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her free time, Marguerite enjoyed playing video games, sewing, knitting, and working on puzzles. She expressed her creativity through a variety of arts and crafts projects. She also enjoyed tinkering on vehicles with her son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include two sons, James (Stephanee) Slaasted of Decatur, Indiana and Steven (Sara) Slaasted of Chesterfield, Virginia; sister, Diane Geniesse of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, Sabrina, Eva, Carter, Nicolette, Damien, Remington, and Kacelin; and two great-grandchild Rhett and Tristan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was preceded in death by son, Michael Scott Slaasted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Zwick &amp; Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marguerite E.
