He was born in Decatur, IN, on November 14, 1932, the son of the late Adrian France Theodore Wemhoff and Mary Agnes (Kaufmann) Wemhoff. On December 10, 1955, he married Carolyn A. Harris and after 63 years together she preceded him in death on April 27, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"561\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a2c31adcff6b.jpeg?resize=561%2C700&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37467\" style=\"width:357px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a2c31adcff6b.jpeg?w=561&amp;ssl=1 561w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a2c31adcff6b.jpeg?resize=240%2C300&amp;ssl=1 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and was a 1950 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On November 14, 1949, he enlisted with the United States Navy and thus began a service to his country that spanned 41 years (21 years active and 20 years reserves). He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and attained the rank of Senior Chief Boatswain&#8217;s Mate. He was a Recruiter Canvasser for the Naval Reserves until he was honorably discharged. Over the years he was awarded many decorations, most notably the Navy Commendation Medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also worked as a printer for the Decatur Daily Democrat for 5 years and the Fort Wayne News Papers for 18 years. For over a decade he helped his father operate Wemhoff Memorials, a monument shop he owned in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ted was a member of the American Legion Adams Post 43, the Fleet Reserve Association, and the Retired Enlisted Association. He was also a charter member of the Moose Lodge Adams 1311 in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is survived by 3 sons, William (Teri) Wemhoff, Gregory (Pam) Wemhoff both of Decatur and Michael (Rachel) Wemhoff of Ft. Wayne; a sister, Dorothy Wagley of Spokane, WA; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Wemhoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling prior from 10:30 a.m. \u2013 12:00 p.m. in the St. Mary\u2019s Parish Hall.
