{"id":37222,"date":"2026-05-29T12:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T16:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=37222"},"modified":"2026-05-29T12:57:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T16:57:45","slug":"business-support-aired-as-donation-hiked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/29\/business-support-aired-as-donation-hiked\/","title":{"rendered":"Business support aired as donation hiked"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decatur City Council has hiked its contribution to the city&#8217;s annual Fourth of July celebration and a related discussion sparked some strong support for local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event will be held on Thursday, July 2, on Riverside Center&#8217;s parking lot with music provided by Proud Mary CCR, the usual honoring of veterans, and fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sponsoring Decatur Chamber of Commerce had formally asked council if it could boost its usual donation to help the celebration which this year will also mark the country&#8217;s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent years, council has provided a $2,500 donation.
