A mural on the street, that is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s big and bold and beautiful, and \u201csplashes\u201d across Second St. downtown, between Monster Pizza and Sherwin-Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Big? For sure. Local artist Shelby Nower, who completed the mural last Saturday during Downtown Decatur Day, estimates the painting is approximately 14 feet by 25 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shelby said she worked on the mural for some eight hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The street was closed to traffic during the downtown event and the area where Nower was working was roped off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said she used about three and a half gallons of paint to complete the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GREAT DAY: At the city council meeting three days after Downtown Decatur Day, Mayor Dan Rickord hailed it as a \u201cgreat day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said there were \u201cway more vendors than before and way more people than before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur Main Street organizes the event and this year&#8217;s was the fifth annual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThank you to all the people involved,\u201d Rickord said. \u201cIt was great.
