The crash was reported by a Geneva resident who told authorities he did not witness the accident but came upon the scene afterward.

According to investigators, 61-year-old Geneva resident Nathan P. Clayman was driving a white 2014 Dodge Dart southbound on 000 Road when the vehicle apparently lost control near Covered Bridge Road and struck a guardrail. The car then traveled into a nearby field east of the intersection.

Authorities said the impact partially ejected Clayman through the passenger-side window. Deputies noted that the vehicle’s airbags did not deploy and seatbelts did not appear to have been in use at the time of the crash. Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, Clayman was pronounced dead.

Investigators said there were no immediate signs that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
