{"id":36849,"date":"2026-05-18T14:57:58","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=36849"},"modified":"2026-05-18T14:57:59","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:57:59","slug":"38-decatur-homes-granted-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/18\/38-decatur-homes-granted-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"38 Decatur homes granted funds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A large number of Decatur homes are in line for some \u201csprucing up\u201d in the next few weeks, thanks to the city&#8217;s Beautification Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart recently reported to city council that no less than 38 homes \u2013 a much-larger number than in the past \u2013 have been granted funds through the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operated by the Mayor&#8217;s Youth Council, the program provides matching funds for projects to improve the exterior of residential properties within the city limits. City council administers the program and has final say on all matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Beautification.jpg?resize=640%2C492&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Beautification.jpg?w=804&amp;ssl=1 804w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Beautification.jpg?resize=300%2C231&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Beautification.jpg?resize=768%2C590&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The program, now in its third year, operates much like the city&#8217;s facade and 50\/50 sidewalk programs. A resident applies for a grant, detailing a proposed project and the cost; if approved, the city then matches the amount requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The maximum amount awarded is $500, or $750 if submitted with an immediate neighbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city&#8217;s share for this year amounts to $16,659.89, which includes $1,659.82 left over in this year&#8217;s facade program.
