Bellmont lost its postseason opener in boys’ volleyball to New Haven Thursday night at the Huntington North sectional, falling in straight sets 25-12, 25-13, 25-15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the loss, the Bellmont boys showed improvement from the early-season matchup they had with the Bulldogs, which finished 25-9, 25-10, 25-10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cam Summers, who has been playing volleyball and golf all spring, led the Braves with eight kills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Jack Johnson, who has also been splitting his time between golf and coach Krull’s team, had 12 assists in the final game of his career as Bellmont’s setter. Johnson and Summers both led the Braves with two blocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luke Summers led the Braves with eight digs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freshman Caleb Coats finished off a promising ninth-grade season with five digs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves ended their season with a record of 3-10. Last year’s inaugural season ended with a similar 3-11 record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homestead also advanced to Saturday’s semifinals with a straight-set victory. The Spartans will play New Haven at 11 a.m. for a spot in Saturday night’s final, where they’ll face the winner of Norwell and South Side. The Archers knocked Heritage out of the tournament on Wednesday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
