After sitting out the last bidding session, the City of Decatur is planning to jump into the Indiana Department of Transportation’s (INDOT) latest Community Crossings matching grant program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city, through CSI Consultants, is putting together a proposed project that will be submitted to the CC program when bidding for grants is opened in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are getting everything together now,\u201d city Street\/Sanitation Superintendent Matt Schultz said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSI official Beth Johnson, who has worked with Decatur on other CC grant bids, attended the April 21 council meeting. Johnson said she and Schultz are preparing a proposal to repair several streets and sidewalks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major change has taken place in the Community Crossings program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only one \u201ccall out\u201d is being held this year. In the past, there were two per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo I’m guessing it’s going to get much tougher (to secure a grant),\u201d Mayor Dan Rickord said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following are Decatur’s targeted areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Morningstar Drive from US 27 to dead end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Walnut St. from Dayton Ave. to Washington St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Second St. from Monroe St. (US224) to Jackson St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Porter Vista from Monroe St. to Sunset Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Winchester St. from US 27 to city limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Madison S. fro Second St. to Seventh St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
