Decatur City Council is expected to pass at its May 5th meeting an ordinance that will establish a non-reverting fund to hold concession monies from the REV Sports Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concession funds will be divided as follows: overall concessions, 50%; general parks and recreation budget, 25%; and to the REV complex, 25%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to run everything through one fund,\u201d Parks Superintendent Cara Gerber told council at its April 21 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concessions and concession stands have been improved for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe’re getting close to getting that place (the REV) to pay for itself,\u201d Mayor Dan Rickord said. \u201cThat’s the goal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAWS RESEEDING: Gerber also told council that the south side of the Paws & Play dog park has been reseeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That side is closed now, awaiting growth of grass before it will be reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, the north side of the dog park remains open. When the south side’s grass is strong enough, it will reopen and the north side will be closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, new gravel has been placed under the structure at the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerber has said earlier that a drinking fountain is planned as an edition to the dog park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paws & Play is located at 1145 Mercer Ave., south of the Decatur Church of God. The site at one time was where Evergreen (senior living) Court was located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a yearly fee of $30 for a dog park membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To sign up for a membership, got to Riverside Center (8 a.m to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday) to fill out paperwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that time, updated vaccination records are needed for each dog which will be brought to the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get a card for entry to the dog park, dog owners need to fill out paperwork at Riverside Center (8-4 M-F) and bring updated vaccination records for any dog which will be using the park.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
