{"id":36026,"date":"2026-04-26T11:03:51","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=36026"},"modified":"2026-04-26T11:03:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:03:52","slug":"bridge-project-in-decatur-to-start-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/26\/bridge-project-in-decatur-to-start-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridge project in Decatur to start soon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One major disruption in Decatur is due to start soon, followed by another one this summer \u2013 with Mayor Dan Rickord vowing to keep affected residents abreast of what&#8217;s ahead with the second one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first, a rehabilitation project on the Wendell Macklin Bridge on Monroe St.\/US 224 in downtown Decatur could begin as soon as next Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"604\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Wendell-bridge-2.jpg?resize=640%2C604&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Wendell-bridge-2.jpg?resize=1024%2C966&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Wendell-bridge-2.jpg?resize=300%2C283&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Wendell-bridge-2.jpg?resize=768%2C725&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Wendell-bridge-2.jpg?w=1290&amp;ssl=1 1290w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) heads the project which may close the bridge for up to four months, until the end of August, according to INDOT officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, an INDOT official in the Fort Wayne office told WZBD.com: \u201c&#8230;the start day is still on or after April 27 (Monday).
