DECATUR – A lack of playing time for the Bellmont Braves did not give them any extra help in their NE8 opener against East Noble as the Knights took out a 4-1 victory Tuesday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allison Shearer overcame a loss in a first-set tiebreak against Bellmont senior Lilyana Suarez, then won the final two sets at love-love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lone winner for the Bellmont Braves was at No. 1 doubles with senior Ella Ross and junior Averie Coats. They battled the wind well and overcame an excellent return game by EN’s Kayona Linthicum to win in straight sets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves were set to have a good day of practice Wednesday before hosting South Adams Thursday for an important county rivalry match. That meeting will start a run for the team, with additional matches Friday (against Dwenger) and Saturday (against Luers). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
